Learn which to choose

Choose By Words when you already know the exact word count (or have editable text). This is usually best for long, text-heavy documents.

  • Good for contracts, manuals, reports, or long letters.
  • Typical industry rates are calculated per word for high-volume text.

Choose By Pages when your file is made of separate certificates/forms or has heavy formatting (tables, stamps, signatures, mixed fields).

  • Good for birth/marriage certificates, divorce decrees, USCIS-ready packets, and academic records.
  • Each separate document often requires its own setup, certification workflow, and formatting pass.

Important page density rule: page estimates assume about 250–330 words per page. If a page has much more text, pricing shifts to word-based math for fairness and translator effort. Example: a 1-page marriage certificate with about 800 words is priced using the per-word rate, not a single-page minimum.

Mixed pricing can apply: some orders are rated with a combination of per-page and per-word logic depending on the document set (for example, multiple certificate-style pages plus high-density text pages in the same order).

Why estimates can differ: if your project has many separate documents with low word count per page, final pricing may still be higher than a quick estimate because layout recreation and per-document processing time are significant. This calculator is an estimate only, and the final quote may differ significantly based on formatting, certification needs, and document complexity.

The FPGEEC Translation Essentials

The FPGEEC has very strict rules for your translated documents. We’ve simplified them into a few key requirements to ensure your application is accepted without issue.

  • Word-for-Word Accuracy: The translation must be a complete, word-for-word rendering of your original documents. Summaries or abstracts are not acceptable.
  • Official and Verifiable: The translation must be prepared and certified by an official translator, such as a professional translation service.
  • Certified and Documented: The translation must appear on official stationery and each page must be signed and dated by the translator, along with a formal statement attesting to its accuracy.

At D&T Translations, we provide these certified translations on our company letterhead, which fulfills these requirements perfectly.
